My life in Mbesa

_ * My life in Mbesa * _ _ *

Chui (Leopard) _ *

was recently the excitement in Mbesa great, for a leopard running through the area and was very
# in the N & 228; he saw the school.

He was entered at night into a trap, escaped and was on Food
search. Thus we

were picked up by a car and were able to watch on the way to the
hunting.

Unfortunately, he escaped again and the shots missed their target.

Now we hope he will soon be caught, so he would not still more tears
animals

* chorus * Here in

Mbesa I go regularly to youth hour in the church.
There was now on the idea that we could sing it again in the church
.

said than done! The next few evenings were filled with rehearsals and the
following Sunday we then really as a choir sang in front of the church
and dancing (which is essential to the choir here).

We Germans were just really confused, as only a completely
us unknown song was sung and then we also improvised a
unknown choreography was performed. However, we have done well and could perform
then diligently practiced the songs
and movements.

* Christmas *

Less exciting, but very nice our Christmas was here in
Mbesa. We have 9 short Zeitler us at 24.12. all in our house
taken to celebrate and it was really a great party,
though very different in Germany, especially since it was my first Christmas without my family
.

The festive meal was rather typical of the country held (rice and potatoes with
sauces and salad), there was a prayer, the reading of
Christmas story and a live nativity scene and of course the presents. The next day we have

then for a short time activist from England
English Christmas Stocking with, Eggs and bacon, homemade
crackers and lots of postcards and are then celebrated in the church
went to the Christmas service.

There were finally released some Christmas songs sung in Swahili
what I had missed during Advent and Christmas very
was again a bit more real.

* * Mikumi

On 26 December, it went with the Land Rover on the sandy track towards
holiday. Our first goal - after finally reached
paved road - was the Mikumi National Park.

Although he is one of the smaller parks, we were all completely thrilled
.

middle of the park in a tent camp to stay
was exciting enough, especially as our guides told us the evening: "If we say
run, then runs behind us and just do not ask why!"

Except for a monkey hole in the garbage, the animals were only heard at night.

But we could at our drive through the park and admire so much the better
diverse. It was just fantastic and breathtaking!

giraffe, a leisurely stroll along the street in front of us and then run
floating through the landscape. The hippos grunting comfortably in
water to himself or bear little fights and swimming placidly next door
crocodiles. Elephants undergo before us on the way
a morning shower or leisurely trot through the area. What

but for most of was the most impressive of us who were
lions! Every time we drove through the park we were allowed to see these fascinating animals
if we also had great respect for them
.

buffalo and antelope herds along the way and repeatedly isolated
warthogs were against almost uninteresting.

* * Morogoro

went after three days in the park for us on to Morogoro where we
climbing along with a missionary and our guides were.

The rise on the first day at Base Camp was indeed - for me - very
hard, but it was worth it. From Morningside, where our camp was
we could see quite Morogoro, which was a huge day
sight. The next day most of us are
ascended to the summit

At Morningside, we have the evening also celebrated New Year's Eve and it was
uniquely beautiful. The view over the city of many glittering lights
, the mountains around us and we in the middle with a few
sparklers.

was called the next morning but then again mining and descending.

* Zanzibar *

Now it went to the more relaxed part of the holiday, for with the Ferry
we put on 2 January from Dar Es Salaam to Zanzibar, the island where the pepper grows
(and much else).

came after a day tourists strolling in Stone Town is adjacent to the East Coast
in a hotel right on the beach.

Zanzibar Since it is known for its spices, we have then gone through one
Spice tour and met all sorts of interesting plants and spices
.

* return *

was called after a few days then take it back but leave.

by friends we had learned that there is also a night ferry and are
because it is much cheaper to have four of us girls are
already decided to leave a day early and take advantage of this opportunity.

it has been worth it!

We slept outside on the deck under the open sky and a beautiful sunrise
can admire the sea, while we
were admired by the locals very surprising, since
we were almost the only white people on the ship.

After the rest of our troops even arrived in Dar Es Salaam, we are at
evening went to an African circus, in which we
breathtaking acrobatics were shown.

went to this beautiful finish it the next morning again already
Mbesa direction.

In the weeks before Christmas we have therefore every morning - in the festively decorated classroom
- Composed and sung carols

plundered the advent calendar. This morning

comfort has also just come to us learn to help one
too little help in the Christmas mood, which at very
summer temperatures can sometimes be difficult. On 18
